TAP Air Portugal will launch its first nonstop service between Lisbon (LIS) and Orlando International Airport (MCO) from 29 October 2026, making Orlando the carrier’s ninth US gateway and opening a new direct option for travellers between Florida and Portugal.
The service operates three times weekly on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, on a new Airbus A330-900neo configured in three cabins — business, economy comfort, and economy.
Why This Route Matters
Until now, Florida-based travellers visiting Portugal had to connect through a hub — typically Lisbon via JFK, Boston, or Miami, or through a European connection on another carrier. The Orlando route changes that for both US-based visitors heading to Portugal and for Portuguese tourists visiting the theme parks and Atlantic coast of Florida.
Orlando is also an increasingly popular transatlantic access point. The airport sits within driving distance of Tampa, Cape Canaveral, and the Gulf Coast, giving passengers a significantly wider catchment area than just the central Florida market.
TAP’s existing US network includes New York (JFK and Newark), Miami, Boston, Chicago, Washington Dulles, and San Francisco. Orlando becomes the southernmost US point on the TAP network.
The A330-900neo in Three Cabins
The aircraft assigned to the route — TAP’s newest widebody, the Airbus A330-900neo — is configured as follows:
- Business class (TAP Executive): fully flat-bed seats
- Economy Plus (TAP Economy XL): additional legroom, priority boarding
- Economy: standard configuration
TAP’s transatlantic configuration on the A330-900neo is generally well-regarded for the business cabin. Economy seat pitch is comparable to the industry average for European carriers on long-haul routes.
For Travellers Planning a Portugal Trip
Lisbon is TAP’s primary hub and the connection point for onward travel across Portugal and to the islands. Direct arrivals from Orlando land at Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS), which is connected to the city centre by metro in approximately 25 minutes.
From Lisbon, TAP operates short-haul connections to Porto, Faro (Algarve), Madeira, and the Azores — meaning Florida-based travellers can now reach anywhere in Portugal on a single-carrier journey.

Booking
Tickets for the Orlando service are on sale now through the TAP website and standard booking platforms. The 29 October launch date aligns with the start of winter schedules, when transatlantic fares typically ease slightly from summer peak levels.
The Orlando route adds to a steady expansion of direct Europe–Florida capacity across multiple carriers in 2026, which has had a modest but measurable effect on transatlantic fares from the state. Compare flights to Portugal to see how the Orlando route stacks up against other US departure points.
